Sylvester Sim, Singapore Idol finalist, singer, composer and song writer, Sly to his fans, just held a showcase for his debut album ‘Take Flight’ in Singapore on 30 June 05.

‘Take Flight’ consists of 11 tracks of which 8 are his own composition, showcasing his credible vocal range, music composing and lyrics writing skills.

Largely known as 'de bad boy rocker' with unique vocal, his debut album consists of mostly soft rock tunes.. with the exception of the Intro, Xiang Long Shi Ba Zhang and Ai Qing Bo Ji the 2 fast upbeat tracks. 

‘Take Flight’ Showcase was kicked off with these rock-ish numbers coupled with a display of his skill on the electric guitar.   More then half of his renditions that evening were unplugged versions, highlighting his raw vocal to the delight of fans and those from the music industry.

i gotta agree with you sly's very skinny.. for the height of 174cm btw thanks for your offer of the pic.. will pm you my email..

sly's has large pool of loyal fans too.. a lot of his fans are closeted ones.. these ppl are very shy to let known  that they are his fans and him being constantly labelled as an ahbeng rocker by the press, doesn't help one bit..

and if one's fan base is determined by the screams and cheers garnered at events.. then it is very subjective.. NOT TRY TO BE A RACIST  .. however, if the event is held in a predominately chinese venue like bishan... then the screams for sly will be louder and likewise for taufik .. if it is held in paya lebar/aljunid area..

there may be plans for sony-bmg to promote sly out of singapore soon.. the first destination might be malaysia.. cos during his showcase there were malaysian reporters from the various newspaper and also tv and radio stations present.

i met a reporter from fm 988 radio station .. in between taking notes.. his enthusiastic nods..to sly's questions after some songs.. on weather his renditions are ok.. was very funny..  i cannot help but ask him why is he nodding his affirmatives so happily.. when the questions were directed at fans actually..  afterall, being a dj,  he is used to these kind of scenes.. to my surprise he answered..  "wo hen xin shang ta de chai hua"...  ( i really appreciate his talent )..

For your information a lot of Sly fans recently I asked have moved to support others. For all you know Sly's fan based has reduced. Yes, Taufik has more malay fans but they have chinese fans too like me. Many Mediacorp artistes voted for Taufik in finals and continue to support him. U can ask around. By the way I am Malaysian working in Singapore. I support anyone who sang well and have great vocals not just look good or cool.

I voted 10 times for Sylvester before in the first few episodes but stopped when I realised he used charm to gather votes rather than work hard to sing in the competition. You can disagree with me. He lost my votes since long ago.

@Botanica Garden last Sunday...we totally loved the Sylvestar pink boards...FC members of all ages......pretty young thing, hot bods, hunks, families, Malays, Caucasians, Indians, Filipino, cheena.....SLY magnetized ALL of US....on the Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage, surrounded by lush greeneries atop wif beautiful blue skies....we basked in Sylvester Sim Megawatt Star Power...Asia has waited for a long time...the 2nd coming....since Bruce Lee......He's finally HERE!!!!!!!!!

Singapore Loves You!!! very soon, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Mynmar, Macau, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing.......

whaoooo ... i'm impressed.. for someone with disregard or little respect for sly.. you're still keep up on news of him... and even go ard asking his fans whether they still 'dig' him... thanks for the effort

time to move on pat... you are still hankering on the SI days...  and chose not to see his hardwork and creativity... 

one's meat is another's poison..  i for one rather go for unconventional artistes with talent and creativity in churning out great music for fans like sly as proven in his album 'Take Flight"..  Singers with great vocals and can hold a tune with vocal gymnastics esp. those doing covers of other artistes' tunes..  ahemmm??? just not my cup of tea.. with vocal training and practise,  lots of ppl can acheive that..

i do respect  your views on sly...  just by posting some latest news on him can generate such a barrage of posts  from you is 'unexpected'.  however,  in supporting our very own idol.. i for one do not respond with negative post;  be it proven or rumoured on ppl i dont fancy...  cos i rather not face the situation of having to eat my own words in future..

btw, as reported in the press,  it's a collective decision by both parties, not to go ahead with the registration.. the lady was not left at the altar or ROM as what you suggested in yr post.. and since then both have moved on with their respective lives..
