Johor Bahru Audition
Stepping into the second episode of the second season of Malaysian Idol, the audition continued at the Duty Free Zone in Johor Bahru (JB) - the Eden Garden Hotel.
JB proved to have a more lively crowd, and no lack of many who were fashion savvies and knew how to dress to impress. One of the few who got some air time in this episode was Joe Lopez, the Singapore Airlines flight stewardess. However, the judges thought that she didn't have the voice after she sang My Valentine, so there went her chance of flying to KL to the next round.
Doraemon on Helium
However the real torment of the show only started when this guy in red whose hair style reminded me of Josie and the Pussycats but sang Gemilang like Doraemon on helium! (Hey, don't quote me, the judges said so). Check out the video.
After the first commercial break, in came this gal Azni who was so excited to meet the judges, wait a minute she had lyrics book on her hand! Anyway Paul stopped her and wondered why someone could be so pretty but could have such ugly voice. (Hello?? Anyway, I guess beauty lies on the eyes of beholder.)
Gorgeous Beng, I mean Boy
Next, in came this self proclaimed gorgeous boy who sang My Girl. The judges hadn't seen it coming (Presumably misled by his bengness?). All three judges liked his style although Jee thought his voice was a little weak (you're not gonna believe this but he refuted that by saying he was a good looking guy), so we would see more of this gorgeous boy in KL! Check out the video.
Red Hair Pub Singer
Last season had definitely opened the door for more pub singers to try their luck, this time in JB we had Malissa. She sang in a pub and she had straight long red hair, all that mattered because the judges would like to see more of her after she sang A Woman's Worth, was she worth it? We'll find out. Check out the video.
